Private Pilot Certification

Earning a Private Pilot Certification is the first step in any aviation career. The PPL permits the holder to pilot a single-engine aircraft privately (not for pay). Whether for personal or professional purposes, earning your PPL will start you down your desired aviation pathway. Minimum hours required to complete the course:

  • 40 Flight Hours*
  • 20 Hours Ground Instruction (Including Pre/Post Briefings)*

Instrument Rating

After completion of the PPL, students may begin their Instrument Rating training. The Instrument Rating course trains pilots to fly an aircraft solely by reference to instruments in conditions less than visual flight rules. The Instrument Rating course includes the following elements:

  • 35 Flight Hours*
  • 20 Hours Ground Instruction (Including Pre/Post Briefings)*

Commercial Pilot Rating

The Commercial Pilot Rating allows a pilot to fly for hire. Situations such as flight instruction, banner towing, aerial photography, and charter company or airline employment require this rating. You must be at least 18 years old and possess a current 2nd Class FAA medical certificate. To be eligible for a Commercial Pilot Rating, applicants must hold at least a private pilot license (PPL).

Multi-Engine Rating

The Multi-Engine Rating course includes the following elements:

  • 4-15 Flight Hours*
  • 10 Hours Ground Instruction (Including Pre/Post Briefings)*
*Hours listed for courses are for reference only and could be more depending on how much training an individual student requires to meet FAA standards.
